I am in Navoi right now, and I'm going to Tashkent tomorrow. Peace Corps has written, called, done everything they can to get our visas renewed, and currently, the government is not responding. Visas run out on the 1st of June. So, if we do not get new ones by tomorrow, there is potential for me to work in another country as a volunteer or return to the US.
Needless to say, I'm not tremendously happy about this news, but I imagine things will work out the way they're meant to. If I go to another country, great. If I return to the US, then I will find a job or go to school. I still thing I want to do something Human Rights related, or the like. We'll see what happens. There doesn't seem to be any movement on the part of this government right now.
Just wanted to let all of you know that I may not be in UZ much longer. I will try to let you know what's going on as the information gets to me. I will be in Tashkent as of tomorrow.
People in my village were sad to see me go. I had a fairwell party last night, and my host dad cried several times. They are great people.
